Research & Development

Our expertise covers Research & Development facilities and Pilot Plants for industries including Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology Agrochemicals, Food, Medical Devices, Environmental Sciences, Consumer Products and Industry. These facilities will typically have some a series of laboratory disciplines close together, sharing common non-laboratory areas. Common examples are physical (wet) chemistry, analytical chemistry, microbiology, cell culture and physical testing.

Successful R&D centre design encourages the interaction of researchers and specialists from separate disciplines. The Architectural design can help the cross fertilization of ideas. During the project briefing stage, we identify spaces that can be combined and shared to create a cross-discipline “public” zone. This is where researchers from different disciplines cross paths during the normal workday. By careful design, we create spaces that are ‘interactive’ without necessarily allocating more floor area to achieve it.
